HomeMy WebLinkAbout27442 / 75-16N16 RESOLUTION FEB 6 1975 WHEREAS, the proposed closing o£ the Winnebago County Mental I3ealth Institute would be a grievous hardship, not � only to the displaced emnloyees, but also to Oshkosh and neighboring communitics, an3 WHEREAS, the Winnebago Mental Health Institute has operated at a lower per patient cost than did the Mendota Institute as well as developing a greater scope of treatment programs, and WHEREAS, the buildings at Mendota could doubtless be more efficiently used for other state government purposes should they not be needed for treating mental and emotionally distUrbed persons than could those at Winnebayo, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh urges Governor Patrick J. Lucey to alter his recommendations regarding the closing of Winnebago Mental Health Institute. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that should Governor Lucey be unwilling to alter his recommendations regarding the closing of Winnebago Mental Health znstitute, the legislature of the State of Wisconsin is urged, in the interest of true statewide economy involving the most efficient use of personnel and buildings, to provide for the continuing operation of the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
