HomeMy WebLinkAbout27532 / 75-05AS REVISED � 5 RESOLUTION APR 171975 LdIiERERS, the Boazd o£ Education has rejected the offer o£ the Common Council to len3 it $40,000 £or the purpose of providing a lighted base6a11 field, and WHEREAS, the University of f4isconsin-OShkosh, through its athletic director, indicates the university has no plan �vhatsoever to provide a lighted ball field on university property, and WHEREAS, Oshkosh needs a lighted ball field and will benefit materially from having such a lighted field, and j WAEREAS, at least an ethical obligation rests with the Common Council to comply with a promise or promises made in the past to provide such a lighted ball field, � � NOSV, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the City Administration is hereby� directed to-confer immediately with the Snitz Club and together wiih the Snitz Club prepare plans and specifications and advertise for bids for the installation of lights at the North High School Baseball Athletic Field so that night baseball may become a reality in Oshkosh Eor the 1975 baseb�:ll season. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City O£ Oshtiosh that said pl�:ns and specifications shall be prepared im,-nediately so that advertisement for bids shall be done as soon as possible. � BE Im FURTKER R�'SOLVED that said specifications shall require that night baseball may co:ro�ence no later than July 1, 1975. BE IT FURTHER RESOI�VED by the Cor,imon Council of the City of Oshkosh that the Oshkosh Area Board of Education is h�reby requested to notify the City of O�hkosh whether or not saiu Eoard o£ Education is willing to be responsible for. th= op2ration and maintenance of lights after said lights have been provided by t.he City o£ Osnkosh. Said notification should be received b:� this Common Council prior to tie award of bids for installation oE such liqhts. °J COrit�d.
