New Yoric & Main Intersection (see shee't no. 1) A. This intersection is classified as a'Multip7.e" intersection that is bi-sected by a Major railrad Iine. B. When a train approache this intersection and activates the block, al.l. traffic signals go o flah.ng red and continue to flash uil the train clears the intersection. C. In this multi.ple iritersection there is ne 1eg that is approximately 100 feet North of xlecv York (Harrison) D. Complaints that have been voiced about turning right on Red at this intersection are for traffic North bound on Main failing to turn right or i1ew York, but proceeding across two lanes of traffic and continuing North on Harrison. Also, many children cross this intersection from Merrill School I. The other complaint is that vehicies headed South on Harrison continue across the Main Street intersection and proceed West on West New York, instead of turning onto Nain, and proceeding North on Ma.in Street. E. Recommnd that this intersection be posted at all five corners, no right turn on Red to maintain consistency at this inter- section in the interest of safety for motorists and pedestrians. II.Marion/Jackson Intersection (see sheet no. 2) A. This intersection .s classified as a"Multi.ple" intersection. B. Traffic exiting from Park P1aza ground level parking lot that empties onto Jackson, west bourtd, is located immediately next to, and north of the raTnp that serves for parking above ground level. Traffic usino the ground level is regulated by a traffic signal that faces west and operates on tne same phase as the Marion Street traffic signal. . Vision for motorists emerging from Park Plaza have very limited vision to the left (5outh) because of the ramp, vehicles proceeding up the ramp, vehieles entering Kohl's parking lot, and a sign that advertises Park Plaza. . - 1 _ ►1 at.. I. .i ►, _ _ . _ _ ._. i.. _.e. _ _. _. - 2 - In addition there is much pedestrian activity in this area. Some vehicles do turn right on red,.but proceed past Division and go north on Jackson. C. Division Street is approximately 4 feet north of IKarion Street. D. Complaints are similar to those given for New Yo'k and Main intersection, that is pedestrians are conFused as o where they should cross the street, and motoists are not turning right into the neares street, but crossing two lanes o traffic to get into the traffic flow of another stree. Recommend tha this inersection be psted a a11. five corners, no righ turn on Red, ta naintain consistency a th` intersection in the interest of safety for motorists d ped`sr.-ians.
