Oshkosh Board of Police and Fire Commission
SPECIAL MEETING - LISTENING SESSION
October 19, 2015
The meeting of the Police and Fire Commission was held on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in
the Willow Room at the Oshkosh Senior Center, Oshkosh, WI.
Present: Commissioners Lewis, Schorse, Vajgrt, Jones (arrived at 5:10 pm),
Absent: Commissioner Seibold excused
Commissioner Vajgrt called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Secretary Resch took roll call and Chairman
Vajgrt announced the purpose of the meeting.
Appoint a Community Panel, a Technical Peer Panel, and an Employee Panel, each for purposes of
assisting the Police and Fire Commission in interviewing candidates for Police Chief: Secretary Resch
announced the proposed members of the Community Panel; Sue Panek, Larry Lautenschlager, Tracy
Robertson, Stan Mack, Petra Roter and David Praska as secretary for the panel. Schorse made a
motion to appoint these members to serve on the Community panel, second by Lewis, 3 ayes. Motion
carried 3-0.
Commissioner Schorse announced the proposed Technical Peer panel members of John Matz, Christian
Gossett, Jim Lewis, Tim Franz, Mark Rohloff and Pam Resch as secretary for the panel. Motion by
Lewis to appoint these members to serve on the Technical Peer panel, second by Schorse, 3 ayes.
Motion carried 3-0.
Commissioner Schorse announced the proposed Employee panel members of Jeremy Krueger, Sue
Verzal, Brian Bending, Don Wilson and Liz Williams with Lynn Lorenson as secretary for the panel.
Motion by Schorse to appoint these members to serve on the Technical Peer panel, second by Lewis, 3
ayes. Motion carried 3-0.
Listening Session related to the Recruitment of the City of Oshkosh Police Chief for the purpose
of discussing the qualities the community seeks in a Police Chief in addition to future goals,
missions, and objectives for the Oshkosh Police Department: People attending the listening
session spoke to the Police and Fire Commission of the various Police Chief and Police
Department qualities that are important to the community, the school systems, community
organizations, businesses, neighborhoods, the police department and adjoining communities.
There being no further discussion, Commissioner Lewis made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded
by Commissioner Jones, 4 ayes. Motion Carried 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:05 P.M.
