1. Discuss Menominee Park Shoreland Restoration Project
Parks Department staff has been working with the Shoreland Restoration Committee on
additional updates to the work plan for the project site near Ames Point, Menominee Park to
address the following items as discussed at the on-site meeting of October 12, 2015:
Inclusion of vision corridors within the planting area.
Monthly schedule for trimming and maintenance.
Routine cutting/removal of plants that exceed the height guidelines established.
Further trimming of plant bed height at the beginning and end of each growing
season.

From the Advisory Park Board meeting minutes:
“Motion by Miller for staff to work with the Shoreland Restoration Committee for a three (3)
year period to monitor and maintain the growth of the existing pilot project with respect to
mowing and removal of the taller plants from the existing project area and transplant them
behind the Melvin Avenue pump house location along the shoreline as long as the plantings did
not go any wider than the pump house itself and there be room left available for cross-country
skiing and fishing purposes. Seconded by Fitzgerald. Motion carried 9-0.”
With respect to this Advisory Park Board direction, staff will continue to work with the
Shoreland Restoration Committee on the achievement of this directive. Staff will provide an
update on the maintenance plans for 2016 at this meeting.
