A request for no
parking on
Dickinson Ave., S.
side, from 133’
to 240’ E. of
Maricopa Dr.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins said Pomp’s Tire loading dock is directly across from this area and
semis cannot get in and out of the docks safely when cars are parked in this
area. He went on to say there is parking available across the street as well as
east and west of the proposed area. Paula Harrington, of 2056 Dickinson
Ave. representing Pomp’s Tire, reiterated that parked cars obstruct them
from being able to move anything in or out from their dock. She said
sometimes semis unload at 5:00 am.

A request for yield
signs on Fairfax St.
at Rebecca Run.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins told that this intersection is close to meeting the warrant for yield
signs and there is a slight safety issue here. He continued that with the low
traffic volume and the relatively high accident rate he recommends approval of
this request.

A request to
designate bike
lanes on Taft
Ave., both sides,
from Koeller St.
to Sawyer St.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins explained that there is not enough room for bike and parking
lanes on Taft E. of Sawyer St. to Campbell Rd. He said if this is implemented,
this area as well as Campbell Rd. from Taft Ave. to the Senior Center will be
marked with sharrows. He went on to explain that this will then connect to
the River walk. He told that if this passes City Council, the painting of the bike
lane to Sawyer St. would be done when the weather warmed next spring and
then the last part of the project would be to mark the sharrows to the Senior
Center.
Carried: 5-0
A request to add
a public comment
period to the
TRAB meetings.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins suggested verbiage when putting this on the future meeting
agendas. Steve Herman said this will give citizens an opportunity to speak. He
added it must be understood that no action will be taken that day but that it
would added to the next meeting’s agenda. It was decided the public
comment period will be held before new agenda items are discussed,
thereby eliminating the need for the citizen to sit through the entire meeting
before being allowed to speak.
Carried: 5-0
A request for no
parking on Court
St., both sides,
from Ceape Ave.
to the Fox River.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins said this section of road is heavily used for pedestrian access to
the Leach Amphitheater. Carried: 5-0
A request for no
parking in the
alley by the
Convention
Center, both
sides, from Ceape
Ave. to the Fox
River.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins explained the alley next to the Convention Center is used for
deliveries and access to the Riverside Parking Lot. The current ordinance is
outdated and was adopted before the new Convention Center was built.
There was discussion and it was decided to amend the proposed item so
that the new parking restriction would be: No stopping, standing, waiting for
this area.
