Avenue Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54901 Dear Mr. Schiefelbein: Regarding your letter of May 19, 1977, I have had the Police Chief, the City Attorney, and the Cii;y Clerk review our licensing requirements for anique dealers. More specifically; 1. All officials think that the $200 bond is legitimate, and perhaps should be increased. They believe that this does guarantee the public some protection as to the proper operation of antique dealers, 2. The list of all items in each antique store which has to be submitted to the Oshkosh Police Department on a weekly basis, is not stringently enforced. It vas put in the ordi- nance, of course, in an effor to keep track of the fencing of any sto1en merchandise. The City Attorney, Clerk, and Police Chief agree that perhaps the ordinance should be amended, calling for a monthly report and attaching a penalty if such a report is not given to the Police Department. Therefore, we believe that there is a good reason for both items in the ordinance, and perhaps there is a good reason to upgrade both provisions. I wi11 be glad to prepare an ordinance doing so upon receiving your further direction and guidance--your honor. cs cc: Police Chief, City Attorney Sincere7y, : William D, Frueh City Manager City Clerk, and N ,,, .n : ' ,,:, `, v". '' U U c x 0 U N C11 . r-( O 'b + f O N U U] a • zt cd N O ( O 4-i Fa r, a a _ a, N ' -I ' ' di N U O • ", r-I ri 'ZS Nrl rl Fa O f., cd H 4-► O U 0 O .. . a S O N O cC3 H U i 0 + O ti x c-1 N U c r-i J vi j U .
