3.4 EIDDIhG OR NEGOTiATtO�I PHASE
1.4.1 The Architect, followir,g the Otivner's approvai of
the Construction Documents and of the latest Statement
ot Probable Construction Cost, sha(! as:i>t the Owner in
obtainin; bids or negotiated proposals, and assist in
awarding and preparing contracts for construction.

OF THE COhSTRUCTiON CONTRACF
1S.i The Cnns[ruction Phase will commence �vith the
ar;ard of the Contract for Construction and, tonetner with
tne Architect's oblijation to provide Basic Se��ices under
Cnis Agreement, ��-ill terminate «�hen final payment to the
Contractor is due, or in the absence of a final Certificate
for Pa}-ment or of such due date, sixty da�:s aiter the Date
o� Substantial Completion of the Wark, whichever occurs

1.�.2 Unless othenvise proe�ided in this Agreement and
incorporated in the Contract Documen;s, the Architect
sna(I pro�-icfe administratio� o� the Contract fo� Construc-
tion as set f�rth belo�v and in ihe edition of AlA Docu-
ment A201, Gene;ai Conditio�; of the Contract fo; Con-
struction, current as of the date of ti�is A;reement.
7.5.3 The Architect shz{1 b� a repre_�ntative of the
Ov,�ner during the Construction Phase, and sh�ll advise
and consuEt �vith tne Owner. lnstruction_ to the Contrac-
tor shal( b� forwarded throush ihe Architect. The Archi-
tect sha(I have authority to act on be�a`r or the Ovrner
only to the extent pro��ided in the Co:�;ract Documents
unless other�vis� moJified hy� �vritten i:^strument in ac-
cordance �vith Suoparag;apt� 1.5.16.
1.�.4 The Architect sf�all _ ��i:it the sit� at i�ten�als 2p-
propriate to tne stage of con;truction or as other�vise
agreed by the Architect in �:�riting to become generally
T�miliar �vith the pronre�s and quality of tne �ti'ork and to
determine in geReraf if the 1;-ork is proceedino in accord-
ance witfl tne Con,ract Documents. Ho:•.e��er, the Archi-
tect shall not be required to make ezhaustive or con-
tinuous on-site in.pections to check the quafity or quan-
titv of the Work. On the basis of such on-site observa-
tions as an architect, the Arc�itect shali ;eep the Owner
inrormed or the probress and c�ua(ity o: the Work, and
snal( endeavor to guard the O�vner aozinst defec;s and
deficiencies in th� �1,'ark oF the Contractor.
1.5.5 The Architect shall no, hlve control or charoe of

in t::? Contract Sum or an extension of the Ccntract Time
�vhicn are not inco::sistent �vith the intent oT tre Contract
