Dear Mr. Sawicki:
In 1974, your property at 1804 03ive was annexed to the City of 4ahkosh. A
check of City records show that this property has not beea connected to the
public sewer.
State of Wieconsin and Municipal Law requires all habitable buildings to cannect
to public sewer when it is available. At the present time laws do not require
connection to the public water supply when an adequate preasurized potable water
supply is serving the building.
The City is requiring all properties that came into the City in the 1974 Islaaii
Annexation and with public sewer available to connect to the public sewer before
September 1, 1980. Your propertq t 1804 Olive is included in thie require-
aent. The public utilities were installed under City Contract 1-68. An
asseacenfi of $300.00 has been charged against your property for utility improve-
aents. This aseesament will have to be paid to the City Clerk before counecting
to pubiic utilitie. Call ^ir. Marks City Clerk for fnrther inforaiation on paynt
of asseascnents.
I recommeud that you also install a water service pipe at this tie. The water
service would not be required to be u$ed. If at a future ttsae you wanted to
connect to public uatar, another trettch would not have to be dug. The trenching
is a costly part of this inatallation. Sewer service and water service may be
instailed in the same trench if condition are right. If you choose not to
connect to the public water supply, a water meter ie required on well supply.
A pollution chazge will be made for nse of the publc owned treatsent works.
Fanceta furnishing water for use outside of the building sr►ay be teken off ahead of
the well supply taeter$ and then pollution chares wouldn't be charged for water
used for lawns, gardens and so on.

I alao recommend that yau have yaur plnber inspect your pxesent plumbing system.
inapection wuld determine if your presant syst is adaately installed to
protect occupants fro health haards. Public sewer mains comtain any sewer
gases that are normallq not in a eptic sqetm. These gass can be very tnxic
and explosive. Any psrt of your existing p1umbiug syste that isn't in cade
cauplince and hy reasau of aon-campliance teuds to create a hea2th hazard
would have to be tepaired, renovated, replaced or removd before connectin to
public sewer.
