Dear ;is. Poiason:
In 1974, your property at Z314 Vinland as annexed to the City of Oahkosh. A
check of city records show that thi property has not been connected to the
public sewer.
State of Wisconsin and P4unicipal Law requires hsbitable buildiags to connect to
public sewer wfzen it is available. At the present t3.me, laws do not reqnire
conzecting to pablic water supply whn an adequate pressuriaed potable we11
supply is serving the bulding.
The City is requiring all properties thet came into the City in the 1974 Island
Anaexation and with public sever availablt to connect to the public sewer
before September 1, 2980. Your property at 2314 Vinland is included in this
requirement. The public utilities wsre installeci under City Contract 74-I6 and
aseeeseat of $960.U0 has been charged against your propert for utility improve-
ments. Thi asseesment will have to be paid to th City Clerk bfore connecting
to public utilities. Call *ir. Marks, City Clerk tor further infor:ation on
pgpment of assesaments.
I recomaend that you also install a water service pipe at this time. The water
service pipe sould not be required Co be used. If at a future time you wanted
to connect to public water, aaother trench will not have to be dug. The trenching
is costly part of the installatinn. Sewer service aad water ,service ay be
isistalled in the same treach if conditions are right. If you choos@ not to
connect to public water supply, a water meter is required on well supply. A
pollution charge irould be €nade far use of the public awned treataent works.
Fauceta furnishing water for use outeide of the building may be taken off ahead
of the well supply eters and thea pollution charges wouldn't be charged £or
water used for lawns gardens and so on.

I also racammend that you have your plumber inspect your present plubing system,
Inapection wuld deterrnine if your present plumbing system is adequately insta].led
to protect occupants from health hazaxda. 1?ublic sewer mains contain many sewer
gases that are normally aot in a septic syste. These gases can be very toxic
and explosive. Any part of your existing plumbin system that isn't in code
coaipliance and by reagn of non—compliance tende to create a health hazard
would hxve to be repaired, renovated, repiaced or removed before connecting to
the publi sewer.
If you have any queations call me t City H11, 424-0383. ?y normal office
hours are from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Sincerely,
CITY OF OSHKOSH
