A request to

to s/bound left
turns at Merritt
Ave. & Main St.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins stated that with Ski's Meat Market and new businesses in the
area vehicles turning left here causes traffic to backup & he therefore
recommends approving this request. There is also a sight distance issue.
Mary Schultz, of 507 Jackson Street, stated she has had to wait 1 or 2 light
cycles, especially if there had been a train. She said there are other
opportunities for motorists that want to head south on Main Street.

A request to
change the lane
configuration for
e/bound traffic
on Congress Ave.
@ High Ave. from
R turn only to a
shared right-
through lane.
Jim Collins
Jim Collins directed members to look at this entire Congress Ave. corridor,
including Arboretum Dr., the crosswalk for the Wiouwash Trail, the
intersection at High Ave. with the right turn only lane, and the intersection
at Algoma Blvd. by the Paine Arboretum. He pointed out this is a
designated truck route and there is not space to have both lanes turning
left onto Algoma Blvd. He expressed concerns about traffic backing up if the
right turn lane at High Ave. became a shared right-through lane. He also
expressed concern about vehicles needing to change lanes quickly in order
to turn left at the next intersection onto Algoma Blvd, which he noted the
majority travel.
