Dear Mr. Kutchera: As you know, our firm has moved into the new law office building at 217 Ceape Avenue, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. We are very proud of the build- ing and we think it makes a nice additi.on to our downtown area. We recently placed our firm name in white letters on the building and have ordered the number "217" in matching style. On numerous occasions Captain Starke has contacCed us demanding that we use the o£ficial city numbers instead oi the numbers that we Iave ordered. We have asked Captain Starke to consider our request that the numbers match the building designation. He has refused, and has given an order to place the city-provided numbers on our building within five days. We ask that the City Council authorize us to vary the Ordinance so as to use the style of numbers which match the lettering on our build- ing. If identification of the building is the real object, I am sure the numbers we have ordered will be far more noticeable than the ones provided by the City. In addition, we light that part of our build- ing every evning so that any interested person can find our facility. A review of bUildings in the central business district reveals many variances (whether granted or not) to the letter of the Ordinance. I am sorry to bother you with such a trivial matter. However, we have spent a good deal of money in our facility and we think, and our architect thinks, that the matching numbers would look fa= better and be more noticeable to the public. Thank you for your consi.deration of this matter. GRY f c lkt - cc: Mr. William D. Frueh Mr. John Pence / v,>.-. ; : < < . ,, , , :„ a : 23 - , .; :.- = E,Y,' . n.v..
