Home My WebLink About31379 / 81-11-1 ,981 # 11 RESOLUTIQN PURPOSE: ACCEPT DONATION FROM THE OHIO STREET CIVIC ASSOCIATION INITIATED BY: PARKS DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the Ohio Street Civic Association is recognized throughout the Oshkosh community as an organiaation dedicated to civic and public endea- vor; and rvHERcFS, many improvements fio South Park over the years have been mad� because or the generosity and financial support of the Ohio Street Civic Asso- ciation; and WHEREAS, the Ohio Street Civic Association has offiered to construct and install a covered picnic shelter in South Park; and WHER�S, the Advisory Park Board approved and endorsed the project at their regular meeting of February 9, 1981; and WHEREAS, the Ohio Street Civic Association has received three competitive bids amounting to $12,230, which amount exceeds the approved funding by $3,126_ NOW, THEREFORE Be It Resolved by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to accept the offer for the construction of a picnic shelter to be located in South Park, in a location to be determined by the.City, for the use and enjoyment of the resi- dents and visitors to the City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the City of Oshkosh hereby contributes $3,126 to the Ohio Strest Civic Association to ailow the construction to proceed. After openin� the bids, Discher Brothers of Oshkosh �ras the lo�•r bidder at �12,230.00. This amount is still greater thatn the amount we have accumulated toward construction of the shelter. blhereas the Ohio Street Civic Association believes that a shelter is needed now, and to delay vaould cause additional e�rpense in coming 3ears, and because we have accumulated a fund for construction, we :aoulci propose that if the City would donate the additional funds needed, namely �3,120.00, we would proceed without delay to have the building erected so that the citizens of Oshkosh can still utilize it for t'�e majority o� the 1981 season. Everyone should be aware of the fact that construction costs, naterials, and labor is steadily increasin�. It would be very helpful to proceed without delay with this project, if it is to be conpleted, so that our bids will be honored. Our plan has been drawn up, and approved by the Advisory Parks Board. The Parl:s Director would select the actual site. As you are probably aware, our Association has, through the ,years, provided £or and helped pay for many items in South Park.
