A GENERAL ORDINANCE OE THE CITY OF OSHKOSH rL'�WING SECTIOnS 30-22(D)(3)(a)
and 30-22(D)(1)(c) AND CREATING SECTIONS 30-3(4a;(4h) PND (9a) OF THE OSHKOSH
MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO SIGN REGtII.4TI0.15 9i�'D DEFINZTIONS.
The Co�on Council of the City o_' Osh:cosh does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That Section 30-22(D)(3}(z) o£ the Oshkosh t•funicipal Code
pertaining to Sign Regulations is hereby amended to rea3 as follows:
SECTION 30-22(D)(3)(a)
(a) Installation of all signs extenuing over any right-of-way shall
be erected by a licensed siga installer and require that a cer-
tificate of insurance or a sufficient bond has been filed with the
City Clerk. Wall signs e�:tending over the right-of-way shall be at
least eight feet (8') above the 1eve1 of the sidecvalk. Any pro-
jecting sign, marquee, balcony or otiier strurture shall be set back
at least one foot (1') from tne face of the aurb and must be at
least ten feet (10') above the level of the sidewalk excepting the
following:
(1) Retractable awnings: There shall be a minimum clearance of
seven (7) feet from the sidewalk to the lowest part of the
framework or any fixed portion of any retrac*_able awning,
except the bottom of the valance of canvas aw-nings may extend
to six (6) feet nine (9) inches above the sidewalk. Retrac-
table awnings shall be securzly fastened to the ou3lding and
shall not extend closer than twelve (12) inches from the curb

raising and holding t:�e awning in a retracted or closed posi-
tion against the face of the building.
(2) Fixed or permanent awnings: The clea:ance £rom the sidewalk
to the lowest part of any fixed or permanent awnings shall be
the same as required for retrac[able awninge.
(3) Canopies: Canopies shall be placed not less than two (2)
feet from the curb line. The horizontal portion of the frame-
work shall be not less than eight (8) feet nor more than twelve
(12) feet above the sidewalk and the clearance between the
covering or valance and the sidewalk shzll be not less than
seven (7) feet.

SECTION 2. That Section 30-22(D)(1)(c? of =he Oshkosh Municipal Code per-
[aining to Siga Regulations is hereby amended L'o read as follows:
SECTION 30-22(D)(1)(c)
(c) No person shall erect or maintain any sign or other advertise-
ment extending over any portion r,f a street without first having
secured a license from the Chief 3uildi.ng Inspector. See
Section 7-42(E)
SECTION 3. That Section 30-3 (4a), (4b) and {9a) of the Oshkosh Municipal
Code pertaining to Definitions are hereby c:eated to read as follows:
SECTION 30-3 DEFINITIONS
4a. Awnings, Permanent or Eixed
Shielding or decorative fiacture attached to a building and extendi.ng
from the face of the building, whic:� is nonretractable and permanent
in nature. Advertising on a permanent or fixed awning is limited to
an on-premise identification display containing only the printed
name and/or l000 or emblem an3 the street address.
4b. Awning, Retractable
Shielding or decorative fixture attach�d to a building and extending
from the face of the building, which can be mechanically retracted
to the face of the building. Advert±sing on a retractable awning
is limited to an on-premise identification display containing only
the printed name and/or logo or emblem and the street address.
9a. Cano
A structure attached and extending from the face of a building con-
structed as a permanent fixture, which may be supported from the
ground. Advertising on a canopy is limited to an.on-premise.ideA- .._
[ification display containing only the printed name and/or logo or
emblem and the street address.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shaJ_1 be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and date of publication.
