Regarding: 4 inch stone £acing
C. R. Meyer 6 Sons Office, 208 State St. (formerly Bangs Trucking
building - 212 State Stieet)
Dear Mt. Frueh:
We are requesting permission to face the old Bangs Trucking building with 4 inches
of cut stone to match our existing office. We are of khe understanding that the
face of the curcent brick veneer office is the property line and therefore this
4 inch stone applied to the face of the Bangs building would appear to infringe
on the city property (sidewalk) be 4 inches.
The adjacent building to the north is owned by Oshkosh B'Gosh, Inc. and some years
ago precast conczete was face applied over a similar brick front extending 4 inches
out over the city sidewalk. The face of ouc new stone would be exactly in line
with the face of the precast on the Oshkosh B'Gosh buildin9. The remaining
sidewalk width to the curb would be a very ample 12 feet.
1
. I have included several Polaroid pictures showing the precast on the adjacent
Oshkosh B'Gosh building and its 4 inch projection out from the face of the old
structure. Z believe you could invision that if our stone front on the Bangs
building were flush with the precast on the adjacent building, this should not
impede any sidewalk traffic in front of our building. We will, as a result of our
purchase of the Bangs building, be removing the gas meter which will definitely improve
pedestrian traffic.
Une of the =easons fo= this personal request fot prompt consideration on our request
is the recently announced possibility of a masons strike on May 31 and we need time
to do our work.
Yours very truly,
C. R. MEYER D SONS COMPANY
