HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutesMINUTES SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD APRIL 6, 2015 PRESENT: Margy Davey, Nikki Stoll, Michelle Bogden Muetzel, Jan Scalpone, Bob Breest and William Fath EXCUSED: Kim Biedermann, Samara Hamzé and Tom Pech STAFF: Elizabeth Williams, Assistant Planner CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm and a quorum was declared present. PUBLIC COMMENT Geneen Saska (922 Bay Shore Drive, Oshkosh) encouraged the Sustainability Advisory Board to explore and recommend an ordinance to permit urban bee keeping in Oshkosh. APPROVE MINUTES Motion by Ms. Scalpone and second by Ms. Stoll to approve minutes as written. Motion carried 6-0. BRIAN LANGOLF - UPDATE ON UWO BIOGAS SYSTEMS Chair Davey explained the presenter canceled at the last minute due to an unexpected conflict and the update would be rescheduled for a later meeting. SATURDAY FARMERS MARKET STAND - DATES & LOCATION Chair Davey explained the stand location changed from last year and would now be located near Satori Imports on the west side of North Main Street. Ms. Stoll asked to be swiched from July 18, 2015 to August 22, 2015 due to a scheduling conflict. The following individuals agreed to host the Sustainability Advisory Board stand: June 6, 2015 – Kim Biedermann, Samara Hamzé and Michelle Bogden Muetzel July 18, 2015 – Michelle Bogden Muetzel, Margy Davey and Kim Biedermann August 22, 2015 - Michelle Bogden Muetzel, Margy Davey and Nikki Stoll APRIL 18TH - RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP Ms. Williams navigated to the online registration offered through Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance (www.fwwa.org). The Build Your Own Rain Barrel Workshop would be hosted at the Oshkosh Masonic Center (204 Washington Avenue, Oshkosh WI 54901) on Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 a.m. to noon. APRIL 23RD - OSHKOSH CORP SUSTAINABILITY FAIR Ms. Williams explained the Sustainability Advisory Board was invited to participate at the Oshkosh Corporation Sustainability Fair on Thursday, April 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Global Technology Facility located at 370 Waukau Avenue. Ms. Davey and Mr. Breest agreed to host the booth on behalf of the Sustainability Advisory Board. 2 | April 6, 2015 Sustainability Advisory Board Minutes SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATE & SCHEDULING EDUCATION & OUTREACH Ms. Bogden Muetzel explained subcommittee members were assigned specific 2015 action items to ensure completion. Ms. Bogden Muetzel also noted subcommittee members discussed the rain barrel workshop and began developing a list of proposed changes to the Sustainable Oshkosh web page. GOVERNMENT ACTION No update was given due to lack of quorum for the last Government Action subcommittee meeting. Ms. Williams agreed to coordinate with subcommittee members to schedule the next Government Action subcommittee meeting. ICLEI No update was given due to lack of quorum for the last ICLEI subcommittee meeting. Ms. Williams agreed to coordinate with East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and subcommittee members to schedule the next ICLEI subcommittee meeting. NEXT MEETING MONDAY, JUNE 1ST Chair Davey reminded the Board of the next meeting. ADJOURN Motion by Ms. Scalpone and second by Ms. Stoll to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 6-0.
