SUBJECP: Contract H3-07 Park Builctings Renovation
1983 Capital 7mprovennt Prograri
On April 19, the City opened bids for the renovation of three park
bui, ldings: Menominee "Linde" restroom, Pnominee Train Depot concession
area, and South Park restroom. Unfortunately, the total bid for all
three buildings is considerably more than cahat was bu3ge4ed in the 1983
Capital 7mproverent Program. Furt'ermre, 'e pZum'aing fixtures which
are pressnntly on order are not anticipated to ar_-ive in Oshkosh unti!
June 18, 'I'his late delivesy date would neccesitate quite an incon-
venience to our park patrons ar.d shel*_er users. Therefore, it is my
recnrcmen8ation the City reject bids for the crrk at the tvro restroais
and re-bid the work in easly September, thereby avoiding supply delays
a^.d construction inconvenience. Etirtiiernpre, additional ftmds eould
perhaps be obtained from other projects coming in under budget or the
use of outside funding such as the recer.tly enacted "jobs bill" imnies.
I do romnd we accept the bid for the Fcpress Depot building
renovation for the fol2owing reasons: 1) the bids received are fairly
close to the estimated budget 2) the concession wi12 generate revenue
back to the City 3) the public has becor.ie accustosed to food con-
cessions and the continuance of this sevice is vital to revenue
projection and the continued success of our ride concessionaire and
total family enjoyment arid 4) the City hs available at present
excellent sources and prices for deimnstrator and sliqhtly used ec;tup-
r,nt.
Ycur concurence and st;bsequnt Council approval is solicited.
