HomeMy WebLinkAbout32389 / 83-11May 5> 1983 # 11 RESOLUTIQN (LARRIED LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: TO ADOPT UNIFORM INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINISTRATION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has numerous parks, athletic fields and recreational facilities available for public enjoyment, and WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh periodically allows its streets, sidewalks and other property under its control to be used for special events, and WHEREAS, many events involve specific activities which pose a great opportunity for bodily injuries and harm, and WHEREAS, the City's insurance carrier has recommended that the City initiate a policy to make sponsors share the liability exposure for accidents and mishaps, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLUED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the following policies for special events and recreational activities held on City property is hereby approved: INSURANCE POLICY FOR SPECIAL EVENTS (A) All sponsors, organizations, or any other person or groups scheduling a special event or a recreational activity on the property of the City of Osh- kosh shall procure at tfieir expense, a policy of liability insurance for bodily injury in an amount not less than $500,000 per person and $1,000,000 per occur- rence and a policy of property damage insurance in an amount not less than $500,000.00. The City of Oshkosh shall be named as an additional insurance on said policv. An insurance certificate shall be satisfactory proof of the issuance of said policies and shall be on file at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Oshkosh a minimum of five (5) days prior to the scheduled event. (B) The terms "special event" and "recreational activities" shall include, without limitation: (1) Athletic events, such as softball tournaments not sponsored by the City or school departments, volleyball, soccer, bike races, fun runs. (2) Cultural events, such as art fairs, flea and antique markets, band performances, church services. (3) Outdoor recreational events, such as fishing tournaments, equip- ment shows, car displays, water ski demonstrations, hot air balloons, boat races.
