RELIEF HOOD RESOLUTION # 13 15840/3 A. Provide a low silhouette relief vent equal to a Carnes LVA. Other acceptable manufacturers include; Ammerran, Acme, Cook, Jenn-Aire. B. Unit shall be a curb mounted hood with aluminum construction, 1/2" birdscreen, hinged cover, and gravity backdraft damper. C. Provide inside duct size as shown on drawings. D. Provide a 12" pre-fabricated roof curb to match pitch of existing roof. Curbs shall be aluminum or galvanized steel construction with 1-1/2" fiberglass insulation, raised cant, and wood railer. E. Roof flashing by General Contractor. Units shall counterflash curb and flashing. Secure unit to curb with aluminum or stainless screw fasteners. 7. ACOUSTICAL DUCT LINING A. Provide acoustical duct liner equal to Owens-Corning "Aeroflex", Manville "Linacoustic", or Certainteed "Coated Line Board", 1-1/2 pound per cu. ft. density, with hard face to the air stream. B. Coverage 1) 1" thickness for interior supply and return air ductwork. 2) 1" thickness for 15 ft. on inlet sides of exhaust fans. 3) 1" thickness for discharge from exhaust fans. 4) 1" thickness for all transfer air ducts. C. Plan listed cut sizes are the clear inside dimensions. The sheet metal duct shall be increased in size to`accom- modate the lining. 8. DUCT INSULATION A. Acceptable Manufacturers include Owens-Corning, Mznville Corporation, Armstrong, Certaint�ed, Knauf, and �S Gypsum. - 16c - 15840/4 B. Material 1) Concealed RESOLUTION # 13 8133/79005 REVISED 10/24/83 All ducts shall be insulated on the outside with 2" thick semi-rigid glass fiber board minimum density 3 lbs., Johns-Manville No. 814 SPIN-GLAS, or approved equal. Insulation shall be furnished with a factory applied foil-scrim-kraft facing con- sisting of an aluminum foil (minimum .7 MIL thick) reinforced with fiber glass yarn mesh and laminated to 90 lb. chemically treated, Pire resistant kraft where a vapor barrier is required. 2) Exposed All ducts shall be insulated on the outside with 2" thick rigid glass fiber board minimum density 6 lbs., Johns-Manville No. 817 SPIN-GLAS, or approved equal. Insulation shall be furnished with a factory applied white iacing with an integral vapor-barrier, Johns-Manville AP or approved equal. C. Coverage shall include: 1) Outdoor air ducts, filter housings and mixed air plenums - 2" thickness for AHU-1. 2) Supply ducts and return air in all areas - 2" thickness for RTU-1, 2 and 3 located outside or in attic spaces. D. For concealed ductwork, insulation shall be applied with edges tightly butted. Insulation shall be impaled on pins welded to the duct 12" on center and secured with speed clips. The protruding ends of the pins shall be clipped off flush with the surface of the insulation. All joints and penetratioiis of the vapor barrier shall be sealed with 3" wide aluminum foil pressure sensitive tape. � E. Provide finished edges at all access doors and end of insulation. F. Exposed Ductwork 1) A71 insulatior. shall be applied with edges tightly bu*_ted. Itisulation sitall Le impa].ed on stick clips or pi.i�s wcldeQ to the duc::, and secured with spi�e�l clips. Spacing of pins shall be as required to hold insulation firmly in place but not less than one pin per square foot. All joints and penetrations of the - 16d - R133/79005 REVISED 10/24/83 RESOLUTION # 13 15840/5 vapor barrier shall be sealed with a 3" wide matching strip, applied with adhesive CMC 17-465, Childers CP-82 or equal to both surfaces as recommended by adhesive manufacturers. 2) If, through space or size restriction, or other causes, the welded method is impossible, the insulation shall be secured to the ducts with fire resistive adhesive, CMC 17-465, Childers CP-82 or equal. The adhesive shall cover the surface of the metal when applied t� the underside of horizontal ducts, but may be spotted for application to top and sides with a minimum of 50� coverage. Joints shall be sealed as above. 9. INSTALLATION A. Assemble and erect all sheet metal work in such a manner as to eliminate any vibration or noise transmission by moving air. Fit and secure in place with all necessary hane,ers, braces and supports required or as directed. Make all necessary changes in cross-sections, offsets, etc., to avoid interference with other equipment and supports, whether or not specifically indicated. Ducts which cannot be run as shown sha11 be placed between points as directed. Support horizontal ducts with approved iron hangers secured to building construction, spaced not more than six feet apart, and closer where necessary. B. Harn7ers for ducts shall be steel bands or rods. Ducts 36" wide and smaller shall have 1" x 1/16" hanger bands or 1/9" diameter hanger rods. Ducts larger than 36" wide sha11 have 1-1/2"xl/16" hanger bands or 3/8" diameter hanger rods. Anchors in building construction for hangers ahll be metallic. Non-metallic anchors will not be permitted. C. Where ducts pass through the exterior building con- struction provide flashing to make a watertight, weatherproof installation. Caulk around all ductwork passing t`.frough masonry barriers, walls, floors and ceiling with inorganic fill and General Electric Co. Silicone Construction Sealar.t or IIutyl Rubber caulking compound. D. 1111 lining shall be fastened to the inside of the ductwork on a11 surfaces wit_h pins and fire resistive adh_•^ive.
