REPORTS
Governance – the group discussed verifying whether or not the FOSC and COA representatives
have voting privileges at the Advisory Board meetings. Barbara stated the bylaws do in fact
reflect voting rights to each of these representatives. Three member’s terms are ending this
spring. We will be seeking recruits for the coming year’s board.
Finance – Did not meet.
Health – the committee is established as a resource to the OSC program staff. Will look to host
a May Health Fair. Their next meeting will be in March.
Fundraising – Jeff stated the group is changing gears a little bit. They will not meet monthly as
they have committees that are working on the actual fundraisers. Therefore, this group will be
more of a “planning” committee and meet quarterly.
Committee on Aging – the committee has sent out information requesting applicants for the Life
Service Award that will be presented at an upcoming Council meeting. Each member of the
COA will also be establishing themselves with another city commission or committee to assist in
conversations where the senior population of the community should be considered.
President’s Report – We will be seeing some changes on upcoming agendas. Cynthia
encourages board members to check out the upcoming Enterprising Non Profits training in
Appleton in May (Kathy will send out the link).
OSC Manager Report – Mark reported that Carrie Ottum, Program Coordinator has resigned her
position with the City. The position has been updated and will now include some supervisory
responsibilities. The Center will have interns again this semester. We have the opportunity to
work with three young students studying in Human Services, Kinesiology, and Social Work. We
are reviewing our Code of Conduct for the Center and may be taking on some language from the
Parks policies. We will be seeking reaccreditation this year. If you would like to be a part of
this, please contact Mark or Kathy.
EDUCATION
Laura gave the group an overview of the Friends Facebook page and encouraged those who
have Facebook accounts to “like” the page and share with their friends.
NEW BUSINESS
Vision Statement – After the last meeting a smaller group got together to discuss creating a
vision statement for the board. There was much discussion about the proposed statement. It
was determined that a small group would meet on Monday to discuss further and bring back to
the next meeting.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Snell
