SUB,7F.CT: OFfice Products Bid
The City has a traditional office supply operation which includes a stock- ,
room, inventory and personnel to operate the system. With the typical supply .
operation thereare inventories to be kept, ordering and charging using depart-
ments for items purchased.
Through the office product bid, the successful bidder would be responsible
for carrying sufficient inventory to meet our needs. 1he effect of this bid
would be to eliminate or scale down our stockroom inventory of $4000 - $6000
down to around $500. 'Ihe vendor would be required to pick up orders from
purchasing twice weekly. 7}ie merchandise will be packaged, labeled, invoiced
by department and delivered.
With this bid, the cost of inventory, office products and operation will
be reduced. Attached is a list of the most common items purchased and resper
tive prices. 7tie approximate value of this office products bid is $8000 to
$10,000 yearly.
Airing the bid process, all local supply houses were invited to bid.
Based on the most common item(s) pricing (total of 372 items in the bid) and
the opportunity to reduce our costs, Siekert & 6aum is the low bidder for
office products. 'Ihis bid does not include furniture, office machines or
computer ribbons.
71ao other cities plus numerous firms have successfully adopted this method
of office products.
Implementating this prograrn will be done gradually so that departments can
be trained, supply books generated and the existing inventory is reduced.
