It105 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION ANO INITIATNES We are asking for funds to hire an part time Outreach Coordinator for the Oshkosh Seniors Center . The Board of Directors has set up an ad hoc committee to look at realligning responsibilities of staff to better meet the mission of the center. We would maintain our current 30 hours a week Program Coordinator but that person would have different duties somewhat than she has now. The Outreach Coordinator would work in a variety of areas that we carrently are involved in but are not doing a good or sufficient job in and also in helping deve].op services to better meet the needs of homebound and frail Oshkosh elderly. So:ne of these resonsibilities would be: Outreach to homebound; working with other volunteer agencies; working witn support groops wiiich meet at the center and also others available in the conmunity; sunshine to forner center users; working with the peer counseling prograr.m; helpinc to develop an on-going chore service in Osnkosh for elderly, case-sanagement services , a fix-it progran, etc . Stie see our mission as b:,o-fold : helping well elderiy to know what is available to t::em in the community and givir.g tiem information to utilize tteir oan skills , talents , etc, and ther. relping home- bounfi, lonely, frail elderly to better cope with t?:eir lifes situation, whether it be reerring them to proper services , ccore services , qettin9 them involved at the center to alleviate loneliness , ete . This position would be helpful in facilitating the uevelopment of circles of relationships for peoplz who don' t want to be alone or lonely. . i7e feel that 30 hours are needed to do an appropriate quality of job in this area. This person needs some degree of skill and so must be reimbursed for that skill. This person would be directly supervised by the Director of the Oshkosk? Seniors Center and would be a city employee, and would work out of the Oshkosh Seniors Cer.ter. As the center already has a good workiny relationship with several agencies in the cos.nunity , introducing this new worker into this netaork should not be ciifficult. - i6d - 3 o o O ➢ A a o c c a .v -i + vi .v rr N O N tpDG rr O In d r iF T Z n = y p • l0 0 O N (p (7 T .
