Re: OPD Complaint #98-16556
Officers investigated a Complaint at 1034 School Ave where a John J. Schroeder was anested. k
Officers note in their report that:
- A Fenet is being kept in the household
- In addition to Mr. Schrceder, his wife and five children live in the home. ;

- The home was very cluttered and unkempt. In virtually every bedroom there were stacks
of clothing where you could not see the floor. The railing was pulled out from the wall.
There were mounds of clothing and other items in the basement, making it difficult to
walk or even see the floor. In a plastic container in one of the side rooms in the
basement there were some dead minnows and smaller fish which were creating a very
strong odor. Upstairs in the kitchen area it was very unkempt, as there were piles of
dirty dishes and other items cluttering the house. In the back yard it should be noted that
again there were many items, most of which appeared to be junk, stacked up and laying a
in the yard and laying against the back garage area.
P
- The interior of the residence was videotaped. It appeared to be a health hazard. There
were items cluttering basically every room. There was a very strong odor coming from
the kitchen and basement area. The steps appear to be unstable and the railing leading
down to the basement area fell oft of the wall and it is an unsafe condition.
- The bathrooms are filled with items, so there is virtually no access to the bath tubs or
to the sinks. The entire house is extremely messy and unkempt. The home appears to
be virtually uninhabitable.
Mr. Schrceder was taken into custody for an Emergency Committal as he was suicidal at the
time of the incident. He was in possession of weapons at the time he was taken into custody.
The SWAT Team was called out for the situation, but he came out on his own before they `
arrived. Caution should be used in going to the home and perhaps a Police Standby should be k
recommended.
