HomeMy WebLinkAbout35231 / 89-494 R E V I S E D February 2 , 1989 $ 494 NESOLUTION (CARAIED ________ LOST ________ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) P�RPOSE: ESTAHLISH AD NOC SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER COMMITTEE INZTIATED BY : MAYOR JAMES MATHEA WHEREAS� the City of Oshkosh , with the assistance of numerous individuals , Dusiness establishments and governmental entities , has aetively supported meeting the many and varied needs of the community's senior citizens which lncludes the establishment and maintenance of a Senior Citizen Center at 600 Merritt Avenue ; and WHEAEAS, the increasing and ever-varYing needs of the elderly who comprise the most rapidly expanding population group � require periodic re-examinatlon by the community of the services and facilities for senior citizens � NOW� THEREFORE, BE IT AESOLVED 6y the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the Mayor's Ad Hoc Senior Citizen Center Comm- ittee be established and charged with the following responsibilities : and other 1 . To study the social,�ztl recreational�needs of the community 's senior citizens . 2. To review the adequacy and ability of the present Senior Citizens Center to meet the itlentified and targeted ❑eeds � present a�d future , of its users . 3. To carry out the preliminary arehitectural and feasi- bility study for the Senior Citizen Center as authorized i❑ the 1989 Capital Improvement Program. 4. To report in detail and make recommendations to the Common Council regarding , but not limited to, the adequacy of the existing Senior Citizen Center; the potential need for expansion at the present location and how such an expansion coultl Ee implemented and Fundedp the feasibility of relocat- ing the Center to another site including recommended locations together with acquisition, design constructio❑ and mai�tenance costs and alternate means to provide for the identified and targeted needs of the community's senior citizens. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following people are appointed to serve on this Committee until discharged by the Council upon receipt and acceptance of the Committee's report and recommenda- tions: Mayor James A.
