HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter (violations) - 04/05/1999 Apri15, 1999 I-K H ON THE WATER John Freund 206 W River Rd 423 W 9th Ave Omro WO 54963 Dear Rental Property Owner: It has come to the attention of this office that some rental properiy owners have received prior notices to correct the same violations on different properties. It is apparent that some owners wait until they receive written correction notices before bringing their rental properties into compliance and then only the property receiving the notice. It seems, however, through continued inspections, the same violations are found over and ! over in different living units owned by the same landlord. It is the responsibility of the property owner to assure that identical violations do not exist on their various properties. Self inspections forms have been provided to many landlords in the community and those forms are available on request or though the Inspection Services Division. These forms are intended for use by the landlords to assure that their rental units are up to Code and by tenants to assure they are living in a Code compliant dwelling unit. Obviously, in the case of several landlords, this is not being done. Therefore, when violations are found in the future and there has been a history of similar violations in other properties owned by the same person(s), orders will be issued. However times allowed for correction will be reduced and citations may be issued immediately for recurrance of violations depending on the number of prior correction notices and citations issued previously for that particular violation. Every effort will be made to assure that violations were not the result of tenant abuse before issuing citations. Maintenance of the common/shared portions of multiple dwelling units is the sole responsibility of the property owner. If you have any questions or comments concerning this notice, please call me at 236-5137. Sincerely, Bruce Luedtke Housing Inspector
