HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutesMINUTES SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD EDUCATION & OUTREACH SUBCOMMITTEE MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2015 PRESENT: Jan Scalpone, Samara Hamze, Kim Biedermann, and Michelle Bogden Muetzel EXCUSED: Nikki Stoll and Margy Davey STAFF: Elizabeth Williams, Assistant Planner CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm and a quorum was declared present. 2015 SUBCOMMITTEE ACTION PLAN ASSIGNMENTS Subcommittee members reviewed the approved 2015 Subcommittee Action Items and agreed to the following assignments: Action Items Responsible Individuals 1 Coordinate Website Updates Michelle, Samara, Kim, Nikki & Staff 2 Develop Brochures - Recycling #1-#7 (Samara) - How to Address Impervious Surfaces (Kim & Margy) - Native Plants (Jan) Samara, Kim, Margy & Jan (per left) 3 Suggest Development of E-Tour to Highlight Central Garage Sustainable Features Margy (Kim & Michelle) 4 Support Groups Interested in Advancing Community Gardens in Oshkosh Nikki, Samara & Kim 5 Support Community Groups Working on Shoreland Restoration - Explore Feasibility of Expansion Along Riverfront Jan, Michelle & Kim 6 Continue Outreach at Saturday Farmers Market Subcommittee 7 Coordinate Rain Barrel Workshop Michelle & Staff RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP – SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 2015 Ms. Williams announced on February 24, 2015, the Common Council approved a request to host a Build Your Own Rain Barrel Workshop on April 18, 2015. Ms. Williams agreed to continue working with staff from Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance to finalize a professional service contract and registration details for the event. Ms. Bodgen Muetzel agreed to check with the Oshkosh Masonic Center regarding scheduling for barrel delivery ahead of the April 18th workshop. SUSTAINABLE OSHKOSH WEBSITE UPDATES Ms. Williams provided the subcommittee with a brief overview of the process for making updates to the Sustainable Oshkosh webpage. Ms. Hamze requested the number of hits the website received in 2014. Ms. Williams agreed to check with staff in the IT Division and planned to report findings at the next meeting. Ms. Hamze suggested that each member be assigned to review a portion of the website to check content for relevance and activity, noting whether content should remain on the website in the future. Ms. Bodgen Muetzel volunteered to review the website’s landing page and associated links. Ms. Biedermann volunteered to review the “Resources” page and associated links. Ms. Hamze volunteered to review the “Municipal Programs” page and associated links. Ms. Hamze recommended each member review other sustainability web pages to identify layout, content, and design options that could be incorporated into the future update request. Ms. Williams reminded members that the layout would need to remain similar to the existing website and that all updates would be subject to review and approval of the IT Division. Ms. Williams suggested that subcommittee members summarize their requests in writing to aid in future update discussions. Ms. Hamze requested a work session be added to the April 6th Sustainability Advisory Board meeting to review findings of the subcommittee website review. Ms. Biedermann suggested in the future May and November subcommittee meetings be dedicated to website updates. Ms. Williams agreed to coordinate a meeting with the IT Division after the April 6th Sustainability Advisory Board meeting to discuss feasibility and timeline of requested changes. SCHEDULE NEXT MEETING The next subcommittee meeting was scheduled for Monday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m. in Room 203 at City Hall. ADJOURN Motion by Ms. Biedermann and second by Ms. Hamze to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
