HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-182 July 5, 1990 # 90-182 RESOLIITION (CARRIED LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: ENDORSE STATE HIGHWAY 110 IMPROVEMENTS INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINISTRATION WHEREAS, State Trunk Highway 110 is a major east/west connecting highway as it relates to the Corridors 2020 plan for state highway improvement projects; and WHEREAS, the roadway, which carries increasing volumes of vehicular traffic to, from and through the City of Oshkosh, represents a vital link of this community to the rest of the State of Wisconsin; and WHEREAS, communities along the highway have joined together with area businesses to jointly support the completion of a project which upgrades State Trunk Highway 110 between U.S. Highway 41 and County Trunk Highway G; and WHEREAS, traffic volumes, which are projected to increase by 28 percent by the year 2015, as well as safety considerations support the need for this improvement project; and WHEREAS, this segment of State Trunk Highway 110 already carries considerable tourist traffic, plus commuter traffic, in and out of Oshkosh so that completion of this project will enhance the area's tourism industry; and WHEREAS, in addition to existing and projected traffic on this highway, the planned rerouting of U.S. Highway 45 over this roadway will add tourist traffic destined for the Waupaca and Antigo areas; and WHEREAS, completion of this project will enhance existing and future economic "development; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLtiED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the Council endorses the improvement of State Trunk Highway 110 between U.S. Highway 41 and County Trunk Highway G and respectfully requests the Transportation Projects Commission to recommend to the state Legislature that the State Trunk Highway 110 improvement project be enumerated as a "Major Highway Project" and that all necessary funding be made avail- able; and that the proper City officials are authorized and • directed to convey this endorsement together with supporting information to all appropriate state agencies and officials.
