Urben, General Services Manager DATE: March 11, 2015 RE: Bid Award-One Ton 4WD Pickup Truck for Street Division BACKGROUND The Common Council allocated $35,000 in the 2015 CIP Major Equipment Budget for a new 3/4 ton 4WD pickup truck for the Street Division. This truck will be used primarily for transporting fuel to equipment in the field and pulling trailers to job sites. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with Street Division staff, Purchasing prepared specifications for this unit. In the specification review and design process the Street Division determined a 3/4 ton unit would not meet the towing/hauling operational needs for this unit and as such a one ton unit was specified. Bids were sent to known vendors. Bids were due on March 10, 2015. The bid tab is attached. City staff reviewed the sole bid received from L & S Truck Center for a 2016 Ford F350 and concluded it met the minimum bid specifications. Street Division staff determined the operational needs of this unit did not make it feasible to consider the CNG engine conversion option. FISCAL IMPACT The total fiscal impact of the unit is $34,416. This item was budgeted in the 2015 CIP Major Equipment Budget at $35,000. Funding for this item would be charged to A/N#: 323-0430- 7210-06543. RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to L& S Truck Center for$34,416.
