A GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH CREATING SECTION 2-
113 .7 OF THE OSHKOSH MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO ANIMAL SHELTER
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Common Council of the City of Oshkosh do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That Section 2-113 .7 of the Oshkosh Municipal
Code pertaining to an animal shelter advisory committee is
created to read as follows:
SECTION 2-113 .7 ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
There is hereby created an Animal Shelter Advisory Committee with
powers, duties and qualifications as set forth in the following
subsections:
A. COMPOSITION; TERM
The Animal Shelter Advisory Committee shall consist of
four (4) members and two (2) alternate members
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City
Council for a term of three (3) years, and one (1)
Council member appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by
the City Council for a term of one (1) year, each term
commencing on May 1 and terminating on April 30. The
Chief of Police or designee shall serve as coordinator
for the Committee. Members, who shall be residents of
the City of Oshkosh or adjoining townships, shall
receive no compensation.
(1) Initially two (2) members and one (1) alternate
shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years;
two (2) members and one (1) alternate for a term
of two (2) years; one (1) member for a term of one
(1) year. [This subparagraph (1) shall be self-
repealing on May 1, 1994. ]
B. MEETINGS AND PROCEDURES
The Animal Shelter Advisory Committee may adopt rules
for its government and procedure. It shall elect a
chairperson and secretary from its membership and shall
hold meetings as directed by the Committee but no less
than once each calendar quarter. Such meetings shall
be open to the public as provided by applicable law.

Special meetings may be called by the chairperson upon
written notice to each member. At all meetings,
three (3) members shall constitute a quorum for the
the transaction of business.
C. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Animal Shelter Advisory Committee shall advise
and assist the Common Council and the City
Administration in the planning for and care of animals
as defined in Section 6-1 of the Code, and to recommend
to the administration appropriate methods to provide
for stray, lost or unwanted animals as defined herein.
SECTION 2 . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication.
