($189,000.00) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING DIVISION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for a track back- hoe/excavator for the Streets Division; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following is the most advantageous bid: BROOKS TRACTOR, INC. 1031 Lawrence Drive DePere, WI 54115 Total Bid w/trade: $189,000.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Money for this purpose is hereby appropriated from: Acct. Urben, General Services Manager DATE: March 2, 2015 RE: Bid Award-Track Back-Hoe/Excavator for Street Division BACKGROUND The Common Council allocated $200,000 in the 2015 CIP Major Equipment Budget for a new track back-hoe/excavator for the Streets Division. A new unit will replace the 1999 Komatsu unit that requires under carriage repairs that that exceed the value of the unit. A new unit will be much more functional, easier to operate and will perform a variety of tasks for Street Division operations. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with Street Division staff, Purchasing prepared specifications for this unit. Bids were sent to known vendors. Bids were due on February 17, 2015. The bid tab is attached. City staff reviewed the low bid received from Brooks Tractor Inc. for a John Deere 250G LC and concluded it met the minimum bid specifications. FISCAL IMPACT The total fiscal impact of the unit with trade is $189,000. This item was budgeted in the 2015 CIP Major Equipment Budget at $200,000. Funding for this item would be charged to A/N#: 323-0430-7204-06537. RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Brooks Tractor Inc. for $189,000.
