RE: Bid Award-Track Back-Hoe/Excavator for Street Division
BACKGROUND
The Common Council allocated $200,000 in the 2015 CIP Major Equipment Budget for a new
track back-hoe/excavator for the Streets Division. A new unit will replace the 1999 Komatsu unit
that requires under carriage repairs that that exceed the value of the unit. A new unit will be
much more functional, easier to operate and will perform a variety of tasks for Street Division
operations.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with Street Division staff, Purchasing prepared specifications for this
unit. Bids were sent to known vendors. Bids were due on February 17, 2015. The bid tab is
attached. City staff reviewed the low bid received from Brooks Tractor Inc. for a John Deere
250G LC and concluded it met the minimum bid specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total fiscal impact of the unit with trade is $189,000. This item was budgeted in the 2015
CIP Major Equipment Budget at $200,000. Funding for this item would be charged to A/N#:
323-0430-7204-06537.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Brooks Tractor Inc. for
$189,000.
Respectfully Submitted, Approved:
