This group consists of: � Steve Cummings,Oshkosh Landmarks Commission/Common Council • Wendy Hielsberg,Oshkosli Convention and Visitor's Bureau(CVB} • Brad Larson,Oshkosh Public Museum � Janice Dibble, Oshkosh Public Library • Cassie Daniels,Downtown Business Improveinent District(BTD) • Tadd Cummings,�wner of Obio's Tavern � Julie Johnson, Winnebago County Archeologicai and Historic Society(WCAHS) At the rivo meetings it�vas determitied tl�at the area to concentrate initial efforts�vill be�vithin the historic central city;focusing ort Irving Avenue on tlie north,Jackson Street on the west,the Fox River ou the south and Broad Street on the east{see attached map). This area encompasses the earliest developed areas of the City and includes the l�istoric central business distc•ict,multiple government and quasi-pub[ic facilities(city and county goveniment centers,clmrches,parks,etc.),historic liousing stock and entertainment and recreation venues,many of�vliich�vere created and/or designed by notable master architects and developed by the City's founding fathers. The first action necessary to begin the program is to develop an inventory of historical and culturally significant items�vithin the focus area(buildings,monuments,people, stories,etc.)to use as tlie basis of the heritage/historic tourism marketing program,with the end result being titerature creation,self-guided tour maps,anc!potentially guided tours. The group wishes to utilize a City of Oslikosti Historic Research Assistant(currently a Limited Term Employee�vho conducts research and design for the Riverfront Historic Marker Program)and is paid$10 per hour.Hotvever,liis position is salely funded througli the individual donors/sponsors of the riverfront markeas. For the heritage/hisforic tourism marketing program, it is estimated tl�at approsunately 200 labor hours are needed to conduct the inventory($2000). The CVB has budgeted money for developing marketing materials as the end product ho�vever there is no fiinding readily available for the initial inventory. Ms. Hielsberg and Mr. Cummings are going to reach out to the Community Foundation and Ms.Johnson�vill be going to the Board of the WCAHS to see if they are�villing to assist. On behalf of the Landmarks Commission,I am inquiring if the City of Oslilcosh would partner�vith this group by financially suppoi�tuig tlie program, specifically by helping to conduct the uiventory or othenvise supporting the overall program.
