Patek, Director of Public Works cP RE: Approval of Amendment to Agreement for Engineering Services with Kueny Architects LLC (Kueny) for Design/Bidding/Construction Management Services Related to Phase 3 of the Upgrade of the Central Garage ($20,520) BACKGROUND In May of 2012, the Common Council approved an agreement with Kueny for approximately $600,000 for design, bidding, and construction management at the new Public Works Field Operations Facility. A bid for the construction was awarded to Miron Construction Co. in July of 2013. Due to funding limitations, the alternates for a separate equipment storage building, a salt storage building, landscaping, portable lifts, and wash bay equipment were not approved as part of the 2013-2014 construction. ANALYSIS Kueny will need to provide additional services to complete the construction funded in the 2015 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). These services will include updates to various drawings, creating additional bidding documents, and inspection of the construction. For the 2015 improvements, the work will be divided into several bids. The first bid package will cover the equipment storage building and the salt storage building. As part of this bid process, alternate bids will also be requested for the mobile lift units and for brine-mixing equipment. Additional bid packages will be created for the vehicle wash bay equipment and the site landscaping. Bid awards for all of these items will be subject to funding limitations. FISCAL IMPACT The 2015 CIP includes $4.0 million for completion of this project. Of that amount, approximately $1.4 million will be used for final payment of the 2013-2014 project costs. This amendment for services with Kueny is estimated to be $20,520. The funding approved for the 2015 CIP will be utilized for these amendment expenses. RECOMMENDATION I recommend approval of the agreement with Kueny Architects, LLC. Approved, "r - Mark A.
