RE: Explanation of Parking Regulation Ordinance Changes
SECTION 27A-11 PARKING REGULATIONS ON DESIGNATED STREETS AND ALLEYS
A REQUEST FOR 2 HOUR PARKING ON COMMERCE STREET,WEST SIDE, FROM
CEAPE AVENUE TO PEARL AVENUE (CURRENT CONDITION: 30 MINUTE
PARKING AND LOADING ZONE)
This is a request from the owner of Carmel Crisp.
At the last meeting, the board voted to remove the two loading zones on the west side of
Commerce Street at the request of the owners of City Center. The owners thought those were
still there from when Morton's Pharmacy had a business in the Center. However, the owner of
Carmel Crisp contacted me to inform me that she requested the loading zone in front of her store
a few years ago. She is ok with removing the loading zones but would like to see parking
changed to 2 hours so people would have enough time to shop and eat if they desired. She said
people often complain about the parking not being long enough there. A board member had
inquired about longer parking in this area at last month's meeting.
PASSED BY TRAFFIC REVIEW BOARD (5-0)
A REQUEST FOR NO PARKING ON EVANS STREET, EAST SIDE, FROM
MALLARD AVENUE TO 90 FEET SOUTH OF MALLARD AVENUE AND NO
PARKING ON MALLARD AVENUE, SOUTH SIDE,FROM EVANS STREET TO 90
FEET EAST OF EVANS STREET (CURRENT CONDITION: UNRESTRICTED
PARKING)
This is a Transportation Department request.
The Transit Advisory Board voted to move the Mallard and Grove transfer point to Mallard
Avenue and Evans Street. This will allow for riders to transfer between buses without crossing
the street(they can use the sidewalk). In order to accommodate this request, enough parking
needs to be removed so the buses can stop safely to load and unload passengers.
