Agreement/Neighborworks BadgerlandOfHKOfH ON THE WAM TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Darryn Burich � Planning Director DATE: August 21, 2014 RE: Agreement with NeighborWorks Badgerland for Community Building and Engagement Program (Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative) $20,000 BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS Department of Community Development staff recently executed a contract in the amount of $20,000 with NeighborWorks Badgerland. The contract is funded through the Healthy Neighborhood Initiative approved by Council on May 13, 2014 (Res 14.233). As part of this contract agreement NeighborWorks will carry out the Community Building & Engagement Program and projects specified by the City including, but not limited to, development of professional marketing materials for neighborhood associations, event sponsorship, leadership training to develop the capacity of resident leaders, and provide supplies for existing & proposed neighborhood associations. All activities and projects must: 1) Engage residents within the neighborhood; 2) Market the neighborhood as a great place to live; 3) Improve the image of the neighborhood; 4) Enhance the quality of life within the neighborhood; 5) Promote Healthy Neighborhoods of choice in Oshkosh; and 6) Be compatible with adopted city plans and policies. The Community Building & Engagement Program emphasizes self - sufficiency and encourages residents to initiate, plan and implement projects and activities that will engage residents, enhance quality of life and sustain recognized Neighborhood Associations in their pursuit of Healthy Neighborhoods of choice in Oshkosh. FISCAL IMPACT Any expense associated with carrying out the activities outlined in the agreement will be funded through the Healthy Neighborhood Initiative, approved by Council on May 13th, 2014 (Res- 14 -233). No additional impact on city services is anticipated due to the execution of the contract agreement. Approved, City Manager
