HomeMy WebLinkAbout14. 14-386 AUGUST 26, 2014 14-386 RESOLUTION (CARRIED___7-0____ LOST _______ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) PURPOSE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENT / OSHKOSH SENIOR CENTER / UTILIZE SENIOR CENTER PARKING LOT, RIVERWALK TRAIL, WIOUWASH TRAIL & CITY STREETS TO HOLD THEIR FALL FAMILY FUN FEST & GRANNY SMITH - 1 MILE, 2 MILE & 5K RUN – WALK / SEPTEMBER 7, 2014 INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINISTRATION NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that approval is granted to Oshkosh Senior Center (Julie Kiefer) to utilize the Oshkosh Senior Center Parking Lot, Riverwalk Trail, WIOUWASH Trail and City streets 1 Mile Route: Riverwalk Trail and 4th Avenue; 2 Mile Route: Riverwalk Trail, Wisconsin Street Bridge sidewalk, WIOUWASH Trail, Pearl Avenue & Rockwell Street; 5K Route: Riverwalk Trail, Wisconsin Street Bridge sidewalk, WIOUWASH Trail, New York Avenue & Rockwell Street on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for their Fall Family Fun Fest and Granny Smith 1 mile, 2 mile and 5K run - walk in accordance with the municipal code and the attached application, with the following exceptions/conditions: A. Per municipal code, section 6-6, an exemption is granted to allow animals for this event (petting zoo from Glacier Ridge Animal Farm) B. C. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as a condition of approval, the Event Organizer shall pay the City’s actual costs for extraordinary services. Be sure to include the purpose of the event and all planned activities. Fall Familv Fun Fest is a wonderful community event started by Friends of the Oshkosh Seniors Center to celebrate Grandparents Day, build awareness of the services and programs available at OSC, and to raise funds for OSC. The 10th annual event will be on Grandparent's Day, Sunday, September 7, 2014. The event has -grown to over 750 participants from the Oshkosh area and brings families with or without grandparents who are looking for an affordable and fun family event. The event includes music, amen rises food and raffles. New this year: OSC will also be hosting the Granny Smith 5K and 1 and 2 mile fun run/walk. The run/walk will leave from the OSC south building at 10 am and take_ advantage of the Riverwalk and WIOWASH trails. Granny Smith Sponsors: Evergreen, Panske Enterprises; KennedV Center Orthopedics; Fox Valley Hearing Center Inc.; Fox Valley Physical Therapy; Cranked Bike Studio; David and Judy Abraham; Krueger Family Chiropracticx_Oshkosh Cyclery Volunteer Parking Here or at Fox Valley Tech and then take the golf cart shuttle to the event Food, Entertainment & Raffle in the tent 1 -MILE ROUTE • From the Oshkosh Seniors Center South Building, head south on the Riverwalk Frail. • Continue on the trail past Fox Valley Technical College, under the Wisconsin Street bridge on the new path, past the Community Foundation building until you reach the Pier. • Head west towards 4th Street • When you're by the storage buildings, turn around and head back the same route you came. 2 -MILE ROUTE • Continue on the trail past Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC), follow the path up over the Wisconsin Street bridge on the west side and continue over the bridge. • Follow the path to the right and continue on the WIOUWASH trail along the river. • At the 15t fork in the path, continue on the left side of the path and go behind the UWO Student Recreational and Wellness Center. • At the 2nd fork in the path, continue to the left along the WIOUWASH path. • At the UWO Environmental and Research Innovation Center, take a slight right, then a left onto Pearl Ave. • Continue along Pearl Ave. until you reach Rockwell Street. • Take a left on Rockwell Street and follow to the WIOWASH trail. • Take a left on to the WIOWASH trail. • Follow the WIOUWASH trail until the Wisconsin Street bridge, across over again on the west side. • Follow the path down to the Riverwalk trail and back to OSC South Building. SK (3.10 -Mile) ROUTE • From the Oshkosh Seniors Center (OSC) South Building, head south on the Riverwalk Trail. • Continue on the trail past Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC), follow the path up over the Wisconsin Street bridge on the west side and continue over the bridge. • Follow the path to the right and continue on the WIOUWASH trail along the river. • At the 1st fork in the path, continue on the left side of the path and go behind the UWO Student Recreational and Wellness Center. • At the 2 "d fork in the path, continue along the WIOUWASH path behind the Rockwell Building. • Continue along the WIOUWASH trail until you reach New York Street. • Take a right onto New York Street. Follow New York until you reach High Street. • Follow High Street until Rockwell St. • Take a right onto Rockwell St. to pick up the WIOUWASH trail again. • Follow the WIOUWASH trail until the Wisconsin Street bridge, across over again on the west side. • Follow the path down to the Riverwalk trail and back to OSC South Building.
