Bid Award -'/4 Ton 4WD Regular Cab Pickup for Parks Department
BACKGROUND
The Common Council allocated $45,000 in the 2014 Major Equipment CIP for a 3/4 ton
4WD regular cab pickup truck for the Parks Department. The new unit replaces a 1999
GMC % ton unit that is no longer cost effective to continue to maintain.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared
proposals seeking vendors for this unit. The compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel option
was available for this model but not operational feasible for the needs of this unit. Bids
were posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on April 17, 2014. The bid tab
is attached. The Street Division, Parks Department and Purchasing reviewed the bids
received and concluded the low bid from Ewald's Hartford Ford met the minimum bid
specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
With trade -in the total fiscal impact of the unit will be $33,240. This item was budgeted
in the 2014 Major Equipment CIP at $45,000. Funding for this item would be charged to
A/N #: 323 -0610 -7210- 06426.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Ewald's Hartford Ford
for $33,240.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jon Urben, General Services Manager
