No. 323-1070-7204-06419 Equipment Improvement Fund – Machinery & Equipment TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon Urben, General Services Manager DATE: April 10, 2014 RE: Award Mobile Storage Unit for Oshkosh Public Museum BACKGROUND The Common Council approved $75,000 in the Major Equipment Replacement Fund of the 2014 CIP for storage upgrade at the Oshkosh Public Museum. The Museum is seeking to maximize its existing collections storage space through the use of customized moveable aisle units. Because the Museum's existing collection storage space is at a premium, it is absolutely critical to make the most efficient use of every square foot. The use of this type of storage unit improves space efficiency by approximately 40 %. The museum previously installed a mobile storage unit on the first floor of the Carriage House in 2012. This bid would be to provide another mobile storage unit to be installed on the 2 "d floor of the Carriage House. In preparation for this storage upgrade the Museum had the Carriage House 2"d floor structurally reinforced in 2013. ANALYSIS Working with Museum staff, Purchasing prepared bid specifications to solicit vendors that could provide mobile storage units. Bids were advertised on our online NovusVendor system and in the local paper. Bids were received on April 8, 2014. The bid tab is attached. Purchasing and Museum staff reviewed the low bid from Montel of $55,490 and concluded their mobile storage unit met the minimum bid specifications. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact of this bid is $55,490. This project was allocated $75,000 in the Major Equipment Replacement Fund of the 2014 CIP. This project can be charged to A/N #: 323 -1070- 7204- 06419. RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this project to Montel for $55,490.
