Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Workss RE: Authorize Grant Application to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for Urban Nonpoint Source and Storm Water Management Grant Program for the Washburn Street - Westowne Avenue Area Storm Water Quality Detention Basin BACKGROUND The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources administers the Urban Nonpoint Source and Storm Water Grant programs. These programs offer financial assistance to local units of government for planning and implementing storm water management facilities to control the amount of pollutants that discharge to waters of the State. The City of Oshkosh has previously received planning level and construction grants under this program. ANALYSIS The current construction grant application will assist the City of Oshkosh in implementing storm water pollution reduction features in the Washburn Water Quality Detention Basin area. The water quality features are estimated to remove approximately 10.3 tons per year of sediment from the storm water runoff. The Washburn Water Quality Detention Basin is currently planned for construction in 2015. FISCAL IMPACT The approval of this resolution allows staff to submit the grant application, which if awarded, will reduce the City cost of the project. The grant program reimburses municipalities 50% of their costs, up to a maximum of $150,000. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
