HomeMy WebLinkAbout14. 14-110 MARCH 11, 2014 14-110 RESOLUTION (CARRIED __6-0____ LOST ______ LAID OVER ______ WITHDRAWN______) PURPOSE: AUTHORIZE POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANTS FOR (1) PEDESTRIAN SAFETY ENFORCEMENT (2) BICYCLE SAFETY ENFORCEMENT INITATED BY: OSHKOSH POLICE DEPARTMENT BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council for the City of Oshkosh that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to apply for a grant with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for: (1) Pedestrian Safety Enforcement - $2,000 to pay for officer overtime related to directed enforcement activities at roundabouts, downtown pedestrian crossings, and at special events, such as Country USA/Rock USA, for the purpose of enhancing pedestrian safety. (2) Bicycle Safety Enforcement - $2,000 to pay for officer overtime related to directed enforcement activities in city parks, downtown, university, and other high bicycle use areas of the city for the purpose of enhancing bicycle safety and increasing bicycle registration. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute any and all documents required by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for purposes of the same, and are further authorized and directed, if said grant is awarded, to accept such funds, pursuant to the terms of the grant application.
