HomeMy WebLinkAbout09. 14-105 MARCH 11. 2014 14-105 RESOLUTION (CARRIED___6-0____ LOST _______ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) PURPOSE: AWARD BID FOR FOUR (4) ZERO-TURN RIDING TRACTORS FOR PARKS DEPARTMENT – CEMETERY DIVISION ($45,949.68) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for four (4) zero- turn riding tractors for the Cemetery Division of the Parks Department; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, the following is the only bid: JOE’S POWER CENTER 534 S. Washington Street, Hwy N Kimberly, WI 54136 Total Bid with Trades: $45,949.68 WHEREAS, this bid meets the minimum specifications and staff has reviewed the bid and recommends its acceptance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Money for this purpose is hereby appropriated from: Acct. No. 323-0650-7204-06429 Equipment Improvement Fund – Machinery & Equipment SIT'!HALT_ 2116 C;F;Iijmri Aa,,epue i 0,8r,Y,i?:1,fl 4 ,<VVisc("["Jr E , C€ty of Oshkosh _/ Of i TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon Urben, General Services Manager DATE: March 4, 2014 RE: Bid Award- Four Zero Turn Riding Tractors for Parks- Cemetery Division BACKGROUND The Common Council approved $96,000 in the 2014 CIP for the Parks Department Cemetery Division to purchase four zero turn riding tractors. The tractors are replacing five units with over 4,000 hours of operational use. The current units have required extensive repairs during the last several seasons and it is no longer cost effective to continue to maintain them. The units are used to maintain lawn areas within Riverside and Boyd Cemetery, ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with the Parks Departments, the Purchasing Department reviewed and developed bid specifications. Bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were due February 25, 2014 and one vendor responded to the bid solicitation. The bid tabulation is attached. Staff review of the sole bid (Joe's Power Center) concluded it met the minimum bid specifications. FISCAL IMPACT With trade-ins the four zero turn riding tractors with attaclunents and options will have a j fiscal impact of $45,949.68. These items were budgeted in the 2014 CIP major equipment replacement at $96,000. Funding for these items would be charged to AN 323-0650-7204-06429. I RECOMMENDATION Purchasing reconunends the Common Council award the bid to Joe's Power Center for i $45,949.68.
