SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD
ENVIRONMENT RESOURCE SUBCOMMITTEE
JANUARY 9, 2014
PRESENT: Jan Scalpone, Samara Hamze, Nikki Stoll, Kim Biedermann, Margy Davey and
Michelle Bogden Muetzel
EXCUSED: Bob Breest and Tom Pech

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Chair Jan Scalpone
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Meeting minutes were not available but will be approved at a subsequent meeting.
EARTH HOUR CHALLENGE EVENT PLANNING & FUNDING
Ms. Schultz explained Cassie Cook from the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) was
interested in the proposed concept of the Earth Hour Challenge Event and asked the Sustainability
Advisory Board keep them informed as the idea developed further.
Ms. Bogden Muetzel was unable to get feedback from colleagues at UW-Oshkosh but said she would
continue to pursue the option if necessary.
The subcommittee decided to table the event planning until further partnerships were established.
DISCUSSION ON 2014 IMPLEMENTATION ITEMS & PRIORITIES
The subcommittee discussed reviewing chapters of the Municipal Code to determine suggested changes
relating to sustainability. Each member was assigned 4-5 chapters to review at the next subcommittee
meeting.
The subcommittee agreed to participate at the Winter Farmers Market to provide educational materials
and awareness about the Sustainability Advisory Board.
The subcommittee reviewed the updated 2014 Implementation Plan and agreed to take action at the
January, 20th SAB meeting.

Motion by Ms. Biedermann and second by Ms. Hamze to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting
adjourned at 8:00pm.
