RE: Bid Award- 4X4 Utility Work Machine for Parks Department
BACKGROUND
The Common Council designated $65,000 in the 2014 CIP for the Parks Department to
purchase a utility work machine with implements and attachments. This unit will allow
the Parks Department to improve grounds maintenance and snow removal efficiency by
consolidating seasonal equipment into one powerful and versatile multi-seasonal unit.
This unit will be used primarily within the Menominee Park/Zoo operations and provides
implements and attachments for loading, trail maintenance, unloading, cargo box hauling
and more.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Parks Departments, the Purchasing Department
reviewed and developed bid specifications. Bids were advertised in the local paper and
posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were due February 14, 2014 and one vendor
responded to the bid solicitation. The bid tabulation is attached. Staff review of the sole
bid (Bobcat Plus Inc.) concluded it met the minimum bid specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
With trade-in, this unit with implements, attachments and warranty will have a fiscal
impact of $64,713. This item was budgeted in the 2014 CIP major equipment
replacement at $65,000. Funding for these items would be charged to A/N 323-0610-
7204-06423.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to Bobcat Plus Inc. for
$64,713.
