MINUTES
SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD
November 4, 2013

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m. by Chair Margy Davey.
APPROVE MINUTES
Motion by Ms. Hamze and second by Ms. Bogden Muetzel to approve the minutes from the last meeting as
corrected. Motion carried, 8-0.
ICLEI MILESTONE #1 – COMMUNITY-WIDE GREENHOUSE GAS INVENTORY
Ms. Schultz gave an overview of the ICLEI-Milestone 1 process and the steps taken to complete the
Community-Wide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory.
A motion was made by Ms. Biedermann and second by Mr. Campbell to forward ICLEI Milestone 1 –
Community-wide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory to the City Manager and Common Council for
consideration. Motion carried, 8-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT POLICY
Board members discussed their options for hearing public comment at subsequent meetings.
A motion was made by Mr. Campbell and second by Ms. Biedermann to allow for 5 minutes of public
comment before the approval of minutes but after the call to order for each City of Oshkosh resident
wishing to speak regarding any agenda or non-agenda item. Motion carried, 8-0
EARTH HOUR CHALLENGE EVENT & FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Ms. Hamze explained the Environmental Resource Subcommittee discussed participating in the Earth Hour
Challenge – which is an annual world-wide challenge to extinguish all electrical usage for one hour. The
subcommittee agreed to work with local restaurant owners to host a candle light dinner to promote
sustainability within the community. A grant application to Wisconsin Public Service is being finalized and
the draft will be discussed by the Board in December.

Motion by Ms. Biedermann and second by Mr. Campbell to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried, 8-0.
