HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutesMINUTES SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD November 4, 2013 PRESENT: Kim Biedermann, Aaron Campbell, Margy Davey, Jan Sc alpone, Nikki Stoll, Bob Breest, Michelle Bogden Muetzel, Samara Hamze EXCUSED: Tom Pech STAFF: Elizabeth Schultz, Assistant Planner CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m. by Cha ir Margy Davey. APPROVE MINUTES Motion by Ms. Hamze and second by Ms. Bogden Muetze l to approve the minutes from the last meeting as corrected. Motion carried, 8-0. ICLEI MILESTONE #1 – COMMUNITY-WIDE GREENHOUSE GAS INVENTORY Ms. Schultz gave an overview of the ICLEI-Milestone 1 process and the steps taken to complete the Community-Wide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory. A motion was made by Ms. Biedermann and second by M r. Campbell to forward ICLEI Milestone 1 – Community-wide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory t o the City Manager and Common Council for consideration. Motion carried, 8-0. PUBLIC COMMENT POLICY Board members discussed their options for hearing p ublic comment at subsequent meetings. A motion was made by Mr. Campbell and second by Ms. Biedermann to allow for 5 minutes of public comment before the approval of minutes but after th e call to order for each City of Oshkosh resident wishing to speak regarding any agenda or non-agenda item. Motion carried, 8-0 EARTH HOUR CHALLENGE EVENT & FUNDING OPPORTUNITY Ms. Hamze explained the Environmental Resource Subc ommittee discussed participating in the Earth Hour Challenge – which is an annual world-wide challenge to extinguish all electrical usage for one hour. T he subcommittee agreed to work with local restaurant o wners to host a candle light dinner to promote sustainability within the community. A grant applic ation to Wisconsin Public Service is being finalize d and the draft will be discussed by the Board in Decembe r. NEXT MEETING MONDAY, DECEMBER 2 ND Chair Davey reminded the Board of the next meeting. ADJOURN Motion by Ms. Biedermann and second by Mr. Campbell to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried, 8-0.
