Mass Storage Array Purchase CITY HALL 215 Church Avenue P.O.Box 1130 Oshkosh,54903-1130 City of Oshkosh OfHKOJH TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Mark A. Rohloff, City Manager DATE: August 20, 2013 RE: Mass Storage Array Purchase BACKGROUND At their July 9, 2013 meeting the Common Council approved a professional services agreement for Unitrends, Inc. for $33,465 to provide planning and installation solutions to address the backup and recovery capability of the City's data storage infrastructure. I'm pleased to report that working with our IT staff, Unitrends has successfully addressed our backup and recovery capability and as requested, identified future storage capacity solutions that recommended a mass storage array with ten terabytes of capacity to meet all current and foreseeable future needs for the City's data. IT staff concurred with Unitrend's recommendation and solicited quotes from vendors for this storage capacity. ANALYSIS After reviewing the quotes received, IT staff concluded the low quote of $10,564 from North American Systems, Inc. for a Hewlett-Packard P2000 mass storage array met the required specifications. FISCAL IMPACT The cost of this equipment was charged to A/N# 100-0110-7202-00000. RECOMMENDATION While this purchase does not require Council approval per our purchasing ordinance, it was a recommendation related to our Unitrends, Inc. professional services agreement for this project and as such, I felt we should report this to you. If you have any questions on this purchase please contact me or IT Manager Tony Neumann. Respectfully Submitted, Mark A. Rohloff, City Manager t4
