HomeMy WebLinkAbout09. 13-368 AUGUST 13, 2013 13-368 RESOLUTION (CARRIED__7-0___LOST_______LAID OVER_______WITHDRAWN________) PURPOSE: APPROVAL OF VARIANCE TO USE SOUTH PARK AVENUE (MAIN STREET TO OREGON STREET) AS A TEMPORARY TRUCK ROUTE / OSHKOSH CORPORATION INITIATED BY: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS rd WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh is performing construction on 23 Avenue which rd will require the closure of Oregon Street at 23 Avenue which is part of a designated truck route; and WHEREAS, Oshkosh Corporation has requested use of W. South Park Avenue between Main Street and Oregon Street between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday as a temporary truck route during the period of time that the rd intersection of 23 Avenue and Oregon Street will be closed for construction during an approximately four (4) week period beginning in mid-September. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that Oshkosh Corporation is hereby granted a variance from section 27-14 Truck Routes Designated for the use of South Park Avenue between Main Street and Oregon Street between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday as a temporary rd truck route during the period of time that the intersection of 23 Avenue and Oregon Street will be closed for construction during an approximately four (4) week period beginning in mid-September. South Park Avenue between Main Street and Oregon Street as a temporary truck route when Oregon Street will be closed at 23`d Avenue for 4 weeks during the City's proposed road construction. This request is for the purpose of driving our manufactured vehicles from our South & West Plant facilities at 29d' Ave to our 20th Ave facility to prepare each vehicle for shipment to our customers. This temporary truck route will assist us in maintaining a safe environment for the public and reduce amount of time our trucks are on city streets when moving them from one location to another. We would use this temporary truck route between the hours of 6:30 AM and 11 PM for truck movement between our facilities Monday through Friday.
