Introduction During your annual rooming house inspection the following violations of the City's Municipal Code were found which shall be
corrected by the noted compliance date(s):
Item# 1 Code 16-35A(3) Complies No Comply By 04/15/2013 IMMEDIATELY
Description Cracked/damaged/leaking fixtures or other plumbing conditions,which create un-sanitary conditions or unusable fixtures, shall
be replaced/repaired by a licensed plumber with permit. *"At inspection the water heater was found to be leaking and partially
ruptured along the seam. Contact a plumber to replace the water heater. A permit is required for the replacement.
Item# 2 Code 16-45B(4) Complies No Comply By 04/15/2013 IMMEDIATELY
Description The occupant or occupants of a room in a rooming house shall be responsible for ensuring that the smoke detector installed by
the owner or operator is checked periodically and is functioning properly. The owner or operator of every rooming house shall
ensure that a smoke detector is installed in each sleeping room,vacant or occupied, and is in working order. **At inspection
one of the bedrooms on the first floor had no smoke detector and a bedroom in the front had a battery that was disengaged
from the detector. Inform your tenants that any tampering with the detectors will result in in a$307 citation.
Item# 3 Code 16-34A(3)(a) Complies No Comply By 04/15/2013 IMMEDIATELY
Description Every outlet and fixture shall be properly installed and shall be maintained in a good and safe working condition and shall be
connected to the source of the electric power in a safe manner. **Inform your tenant in room#2 to stop using the extension
cords as power supplies. Plug cords into a surge protector type outlet strip. Install light bulbs in any open sockets. Replace
the damaged light switch in the bedroom.
Item# 4 Code 16-45(B) Complies No Comply By 04/15/2013 IMMEDIATELY
Description The occupant or occupants of a room in a rooming house shall be responsible for maintaining the room in a clean condition.
The owner or operator of every rooming house shall be responsible for the maintenance of a clean condition in all communal
areas and unoccupied rooms of the rooming house. ""Inform your tenant in the front bedroom that they must clean out any
garbage,junk,debris, recyclables, etc.from their room.
Item# 5 Code 16-45(B) Complies No Comply By 04/15/2013 IMMEDIATELY
Description The occupant or occupants of a room in a rooming house shall be responsible for maintaining the room in a clean condition.
The owner or operator of every rooming house shall be responsible for the maintenance of a clean condition in all communal
areas and unoccupied rooms of the rooming house. '"Many common areas of the house are not being cleaned properly.
Remove spider webs,wash floors,wipe down walls, etc.
Item# 6 Code 16-35A(1)(a) Complies No Comply By 05/OS/2013
Description Every floor,floor covering,wall,ceiling, kitchen counters&tops, cupboards&exterior doors etc shall be kept in good repair.
**Paint walls,trim,ceilings where paint is chipping/peeling or in poor condition (dirty/grease covered).
Item# 7 Code 16-35A(1)(c) Complies No Comply By 05/OS/2013
Description All windows in rental dwellings shall be capable of being opened and closed easily and remain open without the use of props.
Windows shall be free of chipped, peeling paint, loose or missing glazing compound, broken panes of glass and be weather
tight. **Replace any broken panes of glass.

Item# 8 Code 16-34A(2)(c) Complies No Compiy By 05/08/2013
Description All habitable room windows/door windows shall be effectively screened with screens in good serviceable condition. **Install
screens where missing from windows.
Summarv If compliance cannot be met by due dates, a schedule with dates must be submitted before the first due date and approved by
this office.The schedule must be met in order for it to be valid. Does not apply to one week compliance dates or hazards.
Violations must be corrected and approved by the noted compliance dates of each item. Call for reinspections prior to concealment
and/or occupancy. Upon completing the correctio�s,the owner/contractor/agent must sign and date at the bottom of this notice
and return it to the Inspection Services Division by the Compliance Date of 5/8/2013
