RE: Bid Award- Building Repairs for Water Distribution Building
BACKGROUND
The Water Distribution Center Building located on Idaho Street and West 3` Avenue was built in
1994. In the last several years the building has experienced various sealant deficiencies that over
time, have allowed moisture/water to penetrate the building interior. It was determined the best
approach to address these issues would be to solicit a bid for all the necessary window, door,
masonry and tuck - pointing repairs.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Water Distribution staff, Purchasing reviewed and prepared
proposals seeking vendors for these repairs. The bid specifications included removal and
replacement of window and door sealant, masonry control joint sealant and mortar tuck pointing.
Bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received
on May 22, 2013. The bid tab is attached. Purchasing and Water Distribution staff reviewed the
bids and concluded both met the minimum bid specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total fiscal impact of the low bid for this project will be $22,285.50. This project was
budgeted in the 2013 Water Distribution Maintenance Account (A/N#: 541 -1867- 6426 - 08671).
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Showers Building Restoration
Co., Inc. for $22,285.50.
