Item# 1 Code SPS 321.04(3)(a) Compiies No Comply By 05/23l2013 Description Handrails or guardrails shall be provided on all open sides of stairs consisting of more than 3 risers. Handrails and guardrails shall be constructed to prevent the through passage of a sphere with a diameter of 4"or larger. The triangular area formed by the tread, riser and bottom rail shall have an opening size that prevents the through-passage of a sphere with a diameter of 6" or larger. **Handrail/guradrails do not meet the 4"and 6"requirements. Item# 2 Code SPS 321.04(3)(b) ___ Complies No Comply By 05/23/2013 Description Handrails must be graspable and symmetrical about the vertical centerline to allow for equal wraparound of the thumb and fingers. Handrails with a round cross sectional gripping surface shall have a maximum whole diameter of 2". Handrails with a rectangular cross sectional gripping surface shall have a maximum perimeter of 6 1/4"with a maximum cross sectional dimension of 2 7/8". "A handrail meeting these requirements was not found installed on the stairs. Summarv It is the responsibility of every property owner to confirm compliance with these orders before the compliance date(s)as specified. Please contact this office on or before the scheduled due date(s)to schedule a re-inspection of the property. Violations must be corrected and approved by the noted compliance dates of each item. Call for reinspections prior to concealment and/or occupancy. Upon completing the corrections,the owner/contractor/agent must sign and date at the bottom of this notice and return it to the Inspection Services Division by the Compliance Date of 5/23/2013 Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. or by appointment.To schedule inspections please call the Inspection Request line at 236-5128 noting the dress, permit number(when applicable),and the nature of what needs to be inspected.
