HomeMy WebLinkAbout17. 13-235MAY 14, 2013 13 -235 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 6 -0 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: AWARD BID FOR HALF TON EXTENDED CAB PICKUP TRUCK FOR PARKS DEPARTMENT TO BADGER TRUCK CENTER ($29,275.00) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for a half ton extended cab pickup truck for the Parks Department; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following is the most advantageous bid: BADGER TRUCK CENTER 2326 W. St. Paul Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53233 Total Bid with Trade: $29,275.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Box 1130 Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54903 -1130 City of Oshkosh — QfHKCYH TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon Urben, General Services Manager DATE: May 1, 2013 RE: Bid Award -' /z Ton Extended Cab Pickup Truck for Parks Department BACKGROUND The Common Council allocated $40,000 in the 2013 Major Equipment CIP for a' /z ton extended cab pickup truck with a 6.5' box for the Parks Department. This truck will replace a 1996 pickup buck with 52,000 miles that has continued to experience high maintenance costs to keep the unit operational. While the compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel option is not feasible within the truck bed operational requirements, the new truck will come with a more fuel efficient engine and a full three year /36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals seeking vendors for this unit. Bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on April 11, 2013. The bid tab is attached. The Street Division and Purchasing reviewed the sole bid received from Badger Truck Center and concluded it met the minimum bid specifications, FISCAL IMPACT With trade this unit will have a fiscal impact of $29,275. This item was budgeted in the 2013 Major Equipment CIP at $40,000. Funding for this item would be charged to A/N #: 323 -0610 -7210- 06320. RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Badger Truck Center for $29,275. Respectfully Submitted, , �.'
